Financial Aid

At present, the major funding resources available for physician associate students are graduate level federal and private educational loans. All financial aid is based upon student need. Need beyond a basic unit loan amount, student resources, spouse income, and parental contribution is met by Yale scholarship. The G.I. Bill is available for veterans who qualify. Application for support is processed through Yale Medical School Financial Aid Office where further information can be obtained. The federal government currently provides a number of scholarship or loan repayment programs for PA students willing to practice in under-served areas of the country. Specific information regarding these programs and other extensive financial aid information are provided to applicants during the admissions interview.

Financial Aid Statement of Satisfactory Progress

In order to be considered eligible for any type of financial assistance, a student must be in good academic standing. Students will be expected to complete the requirements of the Physician Associate degree within twenty-seven months. With the Approval of the PA Progress Committee, a student may be enrolled up to thirty-seven months. Students judged as making "unsatisfactory progress" are ineligible for financial aid.

Statement on Selective Service Registration

The Federal Selective Service law was amended in 1982 to provide that no student receive Title IV (GSL, NDSL, or ALAS) unless he or she has executed a Statement of Registration Compliance (SRC), which either confirms that the individual has registered for Selective Service or states the reason why he or she is not required to do so. Because most of the School's financial aid awards include funds from at least one Title IV program, failure to execute a Statement of Registration Compliance will render students ineligible for that portion of the financial aid award that would normally be provided through these programs. Students for whom this law presents special problems (and who are subject to Selective Service) should consult the Financial Aid Officer.

Debts

Students are responsible for the settlement of all debts with the University and the Program before the Master of Medical Science degree will be awarded.
